Last weekend Nick's brother got married to his long time girlfriend Morgan and we had the greatest time! It was so good to be with family and we got to relive our own wedding as well as they were married in the same church that Nick and I were married in six years ago. Nick's Auntie Marlene commented on Facebook that Aaron and Nick can remind each other of their anniversaries since they're only one day apart ;)
Morgan was stunning in a lovely lace gown- very Kate Middleton whom I know she is admires. Aaron looked so handsome and it was clear to see how happy and excited he was on their big day. Nick was the best man and while he stressed out quite a bit over the speech, he did a great job and I hope he made his brother proud. Morgan's long time friend served as Maid of Honor and she gave a great speech as well.
Such a great ceremony, followed by a fabulous dance party. Good times, good food, good family, and good friends- couldn't ask for anything more!
So happy for you guys- xoxo
Morgan and her Dad busted out a few awesome songs mid father-daughter dance- this was to Thriller (like you couldn't have guessed!)
Siblings and significant others :)
Nick's grandparents- yup you read that right :)

Nicholas is 2.5!
Let me preface this by saying I don't mean this next statement to sound morbid, but: I was following Nicholas up the stairs the other day, and I thought to myself, if I died tomorrow, I would die happy.
I'm so incredibly lucky to have the life that I do. I have a loving and supportive husband. I have a wonderful son. I have an awesome dog (you all know I had to mention him), an ok cat, a roof over my head, and food on the table at night. I get to pursue a career working with animals. I have time to volunteer and help animals in need. I have a wonderful family and friends that are like family. I am thankful every single day for what I have. Really, every moment.
Ok, enough of that. On to Nicholas:
I don't believe in "terrible two's" or "terrible three's". I think every age has good and bad, and I try to just take it one day at a time. I am watching my friend's daughter Eva for a bit and she is about 4 months old- I remember that stage well and while I may miss the snuggles, I don't miss the crazy (lack of) schedule. She is so sweet though, and a very easy baby (I can say this since I have her one day a week).
Nicholas, for the most part, seems like a pretty good kid to me. He is not overly attached to Nick or I, but still prefers me over Nick. He has no toy attachments which I think is a good thing, and takes naps without a problem (usually anywhere from 3-4 hours a day, and sometimes I have to wake him up). If I can't find a particular toy that he wants in the crib, I tell him we'll look for it later and he's fine with that. He's good at sharing (sometimes has to be reminded of it of course), but in groups he will often share a toy with another child without having to be told to do so. He's good about picking up his toys, so much so that sometimes I don't even have to ask.
My favorite part about the last month or so is that his language has really picked up. I was a bit nervous as he wasn't talking much or putting any sentences together (just one, often unintelligible, word). Now he says fun things like "no mama I want to go in the car" and "let's take a walk and find leaves", and "mama go see brennan and declan? or "quintonteddy" (he considers them one person, haha).
Another fun thing he does- when Nick puts him to bed, he goes down super easy, because, without fail, he is standing up about a minute later calling for me to cuddle him. I happily do so, rocking with him until he gets sleepy again. I know one day he won't want to cuddle anymore so I do it every chance I get. I know I can't control him growing up, so I don't dwell on it- I just enjoy every moment that I can.
He's slowly starting to show interest in the potty, but I don't want to rush it and have to take a lot of steps back. I do think it's going to happen sooner than later though.
He loves trucks, planes, cars, hates getting wet, loves Dexter but is still a bit rough with him at times. He loves animals in general and runs at poor Basha yelling "roar". He likes walks and exploring and finding things. He was terrified when a caterpillar started crawling on him, but loves the book "The Hungry Caterpillar". I also recently got him interested in "Snoonee" (Snoopy) which makes me happy.
He has lots of energy and gets a little crazy hyper at times, but it's so fun to watch (and video when I think of it). He is a fast growing, happy, and cuddly little boy, and I couldn't ask for anything more.
Life is good.

Bear's New Owner
As many of you know I foster cats for Lowell Humane Society. It's often tough for me to get to the shelter because of other commitments, so it's great that I can help out in this way and it is so very rewarding, for both the cat and for me :)
My longest foster, named Bear, went to her new home yesterday. A woman reached out to the shelter when she saw Bear because she reminded her of her Persian that she lost last year after 17 wonderful years together. His name was Baron, and she used to call him Bear! When she lost Baron it was very hard and she didn't think she could have another cat, but when she saw Bear I think she knew it was time.
We communicated back and forth via email a bit and it really sounded like the perfect match. Well, it was! Here is the email I received from Stacy after she adopted Bear:

Hi Crystal,
I don't know if they told you yet, but I picked up Bear today. She has done great so far. She slept in my niece's arms the whole car ride home, and then until about 9pm tonight as well. She seemed a little nervous when she walked into the house, but she seems ok when we are holding her. I had her in my arms until I came upstairs a little while ago. The shelter gave me a bed for her that looks like a padded cube with a hole in the front. She seems to like sleeping in there after I introduced her to it. She is in it on the end of my bed right in front of me now. I put her feather toy from you in there with her, hoping something she loves that is familiar will make her feel secure. She also seemed to like one of the leather recliners, she jumped in there a couple of times. I hope she has a good night. Our house is a little big, so I hope she doesn't get overwhelmed. I am sure she can also smell some of the spots my cat Baron "marked" (we are still "finding" his spots on warm days, and trying to clean them, but after 17 years, there are many lol), so I am sure she knows this is a cat-friendly house haha. I went to Petsmart and got her a new purple collar with a flower and bell on it so I can try to keep track of her when she hides.
I will send some pictures tomorrow. Thank you so much for taking such good care of her. You are an angel. I am sure she misses you and your family (even the dog lol). I promise to take good care of her.

And here are the photos Stacy sent me today :)
The one with the picture of the feather lying outside of the bed just cracks me up, as every time I'd give her that to play with, she'd take another feather off- pretty impressive since she doesn't have many teeth.
This folks, is how I know I chose the right profession. All the feels.

Brennan's Second Birthday
This past Sunday we celebrated our friend Sherine and her husband Dave's son Brennan's second birthday. Nick has been friends with Sherine and Dave for many years and it's pretty cool that our sons are only six months apart, so we can watch them grow together.
Davis Farmland
The weekend before last Nick, Nicholas and I took an impromptu trip to Davis Farmland, a place I have wanted to go to since first hearing about it a few years ago. It's a wonderful and huge farm, with a lot of animals and fun things for kids. Honestly, I didn't know if it was going to be me or Nicholas that had more fun. It was a beautiful, sunny, and wonderful family day and I'm so glad we got to do it before the fall. Now that I know how to get there I'm hoping I'll get there again with Nicholas before the season is over.
