Nicholas is 4 Months Old!

First of all, I’m so proud of the little guy, he slept from 7pm to 6am last night! I’m not going to talk about it too much though, I don’t want to jinx it.

Doctor Stats:

Weight: 17lbs 3 oz
Height: 25 3/4 inches - that's 3 inches since month 2!

And I feel the need to point out that his head is in the 92 percentile...(I'm so not a percentile person but)-I guess everyone is correct when they say my baby has a huge head. I’m just glad it wasn’t like that at birth and that I didn’t have to push it out.

I originally had him in a different outfit to take the picture yesterday, but then this happened:

He was too adorable (and tired) to wake up!

I love his morning temperament. He is smiley and happy and giggly and ready to start the day. He “dances” on the changing table and it honestly just melts me. I love to mush and snuggle him- it’s really one of his happiest times throughout the day

Likes:

Still going strong with his activity mat. He’s now started to grab and “eat” the items that hang down. This morning he also “screamed” in sheer joy a few times – it was hilarious!

This week we put him in the Exersaucer my co-workers bought for me as part of a baby shower gift. He’s not quite sure what’s going on yet, and I think he’s weirded out that he’s standing up without us holding him, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to love it once he gets more comfortable with it.

Baths – he’s starting to like these more and more, he splashes around in the water a bit and in general is smiley and liking it. He’s also found “himself” and grabs it SOOO hard! I laugh but honestly dude, that has to hurt a little.

Being held and walked around and talked to. He looks all around and is very curious. He’s also realizing Dexter is always close to him and looks at him with curiosity – I can’t wait until he starts reaching for him – I’m not sure Dexter is going to like that though.

Holding keys, a blankie, etc. – he shakes the keys and I call it “making music”, and he’s started putting the blankie in his mouth a bit and chewing/sucking on it.

He’s getting good at tummy time and has rolled over a few times, but usually just hangs out for a bit and then I’ll turn him back over. I do it in his crib a lot so he can get used to moving around in there, because I’m sure that’ll start soon!

Being sung to – I really like to sing and can actually sing on key, but don’t bother to try, he just likes the different sounds and pitches that I make and will sometimes try to “babble” along with me.

Dislikes:

Being snapped into his car seat. This has kind of always been the case, but he’s usually a bit fussy and will sometimes cry. Once he gets in the car he pretty much instantly falls asleep and is fine.

Things have been rough for a little while with his sleep schedule. I started reading The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep by Harvey Karp. I read The Happiest Baby on the Block and it helped tremendously. I honestly think we are doing everything right as far as his sleeping goes, now Nicholas just needs to realize that and “get” it. I refuse to let him cry it out in his crib and if he ends up a little spoiled because of it, so be it. I really don’t think you can give your baby too much love. Nick and I were fighting a bit because of the lack of sleep – I got a bit sick – I honestly don’t get tired, but I was getting run down because I haven’t been able to really take care of myself. Nick and I agreed no more yelling at each other and that the baby will get it…eventually. The yelling certainly wasn’t helping!

Other than that things have been going pretty well. We’ve gotten into a good routine with day care, pick up, drop offs, etc. Day care absolutely loves him – one girl told me she practically cries every time he laughs because she loves it so much. They said he is definitely the happiest baby they have there. That’s really nice to hear and I always try to remember that when he’s being a bit of a terror.

My friend Brooke was feeding him a bottle and apparently is was too much work so he fell asleep.

Nice sweatpants buddy

Yes he's a Rock Star ;)

This one's for cousin Q - look at me holding my bottle (for 3 seconds!)

Hilarious onesie from our friend Monica.

We’re having a big group of friends over tomorrow and I cannot wait! Lots of pics to follow!

xoxo
