Haven't posted a blog in awhile and a friend posted a funny picture of her son in a diaper box hanging out, and I laughed thinking how funny it is at what children are interested in when they're little. Gavin, my friend's son, is about 1 1/2. I remember trying so hard to get a good gift for friends children when they turned 1, and now that Nicholas is nearing 1, I realize that it's not so easy.
Nicholas has an absurd amount of toys, either stuff we've bought or have been given as gifts. What are his favorite things? Well, he does love the new "push" toy our friends Jon & Caroline bought, but he also loves:
The dog in general (and thankfully Dexter loves him back!)
Dog bones (the nastier, more chewed up, the better),
dog food bowls
the dogs bell that Dexter rings when he needs to go outside
Empty wrapping paper rolls
Pots & Pans
Clothes Hamper
His socks
His shoes
Mats
Burp Cloths
Doors (that he likes to shut in Nick's face to play peekaboo)
The bottom drawer of the stove
Cabinets that he can't open
Garbage
The tablecloth
Placemats (to eat)
Curtains (to use as a head piece)
The table (to bang on or eat)
The tv (we really need to baby proof this!
The stairs
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few...here are some pics in no particular order of how much fun he has with this non toy stuff :)
This empty hamper is awesome
Stairs, Dexter, Dog Toy - TRIPLE SCORE!
Only I can make curtains look this good...
If I try real hard I bet I can pull these down...or just eat them.
I bet these stairs taste delicious...
I bet this mat also tastes delicious!
He loves to bang these on the tile floor..we don't love the noise it makes
Doesn't everyone eat their shoes?
Ditto - doesn't everyone chew on tables? Perhaps we'll make him be a beaver next Halloween...
Pay attention to ME!
Double Trouble
TV...bad mom...had to run out and start the car because it was freezing but I knew he wouldn't budge. I was right!
Just TRY and pry this burp cloth from my teefs...
A real toy! Woah!
This weekend Nick and I are hosting a party for Nick's cousin's on his Mom's side of the family. Nick's cousin Adam died unexpectedly in October and I thought it would be nice for all of us to get together, kick back, and celebrate and remember him as well. We did it a few years back and it was so much fun. Most of them also have babies now so it's going to be so much fun to get them all together. Pics to follow :)
xoxo
