Here's how the first week of eating fruits and veggies went for the little guy:
Yellow Squash ( I made these)
Bananas (NOT A FAN...as if you couldn't tell from the pictures - I used Earth's Best Organics and they did not smell very good, either)
Green Beans (he really really hates these...almost chokes on them...so if I get him to eat a spoonful or two I'm happy) I made these, Green Beans are one of my least favorite vegetables (peas are #1)

Kiddie Kandids 6 Month Photo Shoot
I took Nicholas for his first professional photo shoot today and he did great! I went to Kiddie Kandids which was right inside Babies R Us. The experience took much longer than I thought it was going to, but Nicholas was a happy baby for the most part. He just started veggies yesterday and pooped halfway through the session, but I changed him quick and he was still happy after that! They edit the photos after the session so I had to walk around the store for 15 minutes, then it took another 15 to order what I wanted...then it took me about 15 minutes in line...my dad was with me but wasn't feeling so great, so needless to say my arm is very tired from lugging the "little" guy around. Here are some of my favorites :)

Nicholas is 6 Months Old!
No joke – time flies. We are incredibly blessed with an overall happy, smiley baby. He did wake up on his 6 month “birthday” with his first cold and has been a little cranky, but still mostly smiley, laughing, and enjoying the day.
He had his 6 month appointment on 9/13/12, here are his stats:
Weight:19 lbs 8 oz
Height: 27 1/2 inches
Head....45 cm, now in the 97% percentile.
He got 4 shots so it's been a tough day for him! When Nick called to give me an update and I answered the phone, he was singing "The Wheels on the Bus" because Nicholas loves that song and it helps put him to sleep or calm him down.
Likes: His exersaucer – he can be good in this for about a half hour at a time, and it’s great because we can run around the house doing all the things we don’t get to do anymore, clean up a bit, put away dishes, play with the dog, pee, etc. :)
Bath time – we have a bath tub that goes from birth to age 2, and up until earlier this week he would be in the “supported” part. We still start him out in the supported part, but then turn him around to sit in the tub and he LOSES his mind. He loves to splash in the “deeper” water that he can now see, and we’ve given him a few bath toys that he basically chews on. He’s not too happy when you take him out of the bath though.
Going to the store – now that he can sit up in the carriage, he likes just looking at everything and everyone. I’m still not big on taking him out by myself, I like to have Nick with me in case he has a fit, Nick can take him to the car so I can finish up shopping. But honestly this has not happened yet – it happened a few times when he was younger, but now he’s alert/happy/interested much longer.
Toys that make noise - Sophie the Giraffe teether, "crinkly" books, Baby Einstein piano, etc.
Dislikes – Being taken out of the bath tub is the one I can think of right now! Also, we haven’t tried to schedule naps yet, he generally gets tired within a few hours of waking, naps for awhile, is up a few hours, and naps again. I’ll take what I can get at this point. He seems to “fight” going to sleep, as if he knows he’s tired but just can’t get there. I’m just happy that he naps at all!
Sleeping: Still pretty good - the naps are random but he's down by 7 and we can usually get him to sleep until 5 (sometimes it's 4:30, which is rough!)
New and noteable:
I’ll be starting him on veggies and fruits this coming Saturday, September 15th. So far I have made green beans, sweet potatoes, and yellow squash. I bought Earth’s Best peas and bananas because I had difficult finding peas that weren’t frozen with salt, and because the banana is made “fresh”, buying jarred was easier. I had a great time making baby food, here are some pics:
Him sitting in the shopping cart was also a big one – it’s great not trying to lug around the extremely heavy car seat (it’s 20+pounds and he’s 20+ pounds!). As I mentioned before, he loves oogling everyone so it’s great for him too! He also sits in high chairs when we go out to eat. Here are some pics of that.
He likes to try and hold his bottle. He will often just put it in his mouth and not get that he has to tip it upwards, but once or twice he has held his bottle for a few minutes – and I of course cried (he’s growing up so fast!) I have given him a sippy cup to hold and play with, and I plan on introducing that soon as well.
Dexter LOVES the baby so much, if I leave the room Dexter will run over and just lick his face, and the baby giggles – he loves his big brother too!

MSPCA Walk
My friend Brooke and I took part in an MSPCA Walk on Sunday September 9th. Her wonderful boxer Brooklyn was diagnosed with cancer last November, and was given about 3 months. Almost a year later, she is still happily trucking along. She is the sweetest pup and although I think being sick is not easy for her, you’d never know it. She had a wonderful day watching all the people and checking out the hundreds of dogs that made the day special. She completed the walk no problem, never needing to rest, and we hung out for awhile after the walk because it was clear she was having a great time. Dexter also had a wonderful day but is a crazy hyper monster – one of the many reasons why I love him. :)
Thank you to all that donated to help out for such a great cause!
Buddies!
Dexter taking about a nanosecond rest.
Me saying.."stop for one second so we can take a picture please."
Brooke's new friend, a goat that escaped :)
He's like "Hey, I may be small but I'm cute." Brooklyn says "You're much too young for me dude, I'm a mature lady."
In the car on the way home.

Dad Update
My dad is officially done his radiation treatment! He finished on Tuesday September 11th and left at 2 am on Wednesday September 12th to be here to see his grandson. He will be here for about a week and a half. He is feeling great and his PSA levels are perfect. He will continue to have his PSA levels checked every 6 months for the rest of his life.
I am so very thankful.

Drista BBQ
Had a great time with the Drista Fam today with a family barbecue. It was great to see everyone, we just missed Tami as she had to work. Nicholas was such a great baby, he was passed around within the fam and was an angel baby (for real!) Quin wandered around the house yelling "AHH" several times, and he is adorable and so happy. But, I'm definitely savoring the fact that Nicholas is not mobile yet...
Chicken, Pork, and Steak from Brown & Budnick's in Dracut (I had a veggie burger but was told the meat was delicious ;)
Orzo Salad courtesy of Miss Alexis
Corn on the Cob and Zucchini - my new favorite veg! I'm all grown up...liking vegetables now :)
The handome Quinton!
People sitting outside!! We so rarely use our outdoor dining set, I was glad it was put to good use for once :)
GQ's got nothing on this guy...
Aaron and Morgan - sweet peas :)
Rich, Alexis, and the babe
The Drista Girls :)
Papou and Nicholas, they've got the same look on their face!!
Dan and Kingsley - she is almost 7 months pregnant and looking phenomenal (same as she looked the last pregnancy...beeyotch - heehee)
Lastly - dessert! cheesecake and lemon chocolate crisps from Trader Joe's and a delicious apple crumb cake that D&K picked up! (PS, the flowers are from Trader Joe's too - love that place)
